Science Cafe Concord tonight discusses Lyme disease. Which means we’ll discuss ticks. Which is why there’s a picture of me tucking my pants into my socks in today’s Concord Monitor.
Discuss Lyme disease at Science Cafe (and yes, that’s my sock)

I’ve started using “blousing garters” from my Marine Corps days on my pants legs to try and keep out tics. Not sure if they are effective but anything that may keep them at bay works for me. Our dog is a tick magnet so hiking in the woods is an adventure.

Alan Eaton’s recommendation was high rubber boots – 16″ or more. Ticks can’t hold onto the slick surface.
