UPDATE: On Twitter, Rudy Rucker politely told me I used the word all wrong. This is his definition.

As anybody who works for a living knows, sometimes you have to indulge yourself. So I decided to use “wetware” in a story lede that had nothing whatsoever to do with artificial intelligence, robots or sci-fi author Rudy Rucker, who coined the term; I just like the word.

Instead, it’s about the complications in modernizing the electricity grid starting with that horribly uncontrollable component, us.
