The Granite Geek blog/newsletter has been incorporated into the Concord Monitor online thingamajig. As a result, this separate WordPress site will not be updated after a decade of use. If you came here via a bookmark, switch it to Granitegeek.org. See you there!
About Granite Geek
Dave Brooks has written a weekly science/tech newspaper column since 1991 – yes, that long – and has written this blog since 2006, keeping an eye on geekish topics in and around the Granite State. He discusses the geek world regularly on WGIR-AM radio, and moderated the monthly Science Cafe NH sessions when they were still a thing. He joined the Concord Monitor in 2015.
Brooks earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics but got lost on the way to the Ivory Tower and ended up in a newsroom. He has reported for newspapers from Tennessee to New England. Rummage through his bag of awards you’ll find oddities like three Best Blog prizes from the New Hampshire Press Association, Writer of the Year award from the N.H. Farm and Forest Bureau (of all places) and his 2024 induction into the New England Newspaper Hall of Fame.
Return to the Concord Monitor
Well this is a problem. While the Monitor seems to recognize RSS, when I go there it shows me all the departments which I’m not interested in but not Granite Geek which is what I’m looking for.
Is this the end of Granite Geek for me? Big bummer…
Another +1 for Granite Geek specific RSS – I have exactly the same feelings as Rusty! I’m not interested in any of the stuff in the feed at http://www.concordmonitor.com/granite-geek (“Are you guys stupid,” “Arts ahead” “We really need bipartisanship.”
Thanks for all the reporting over the years đź‘‹
Agreeing with Rusty and happypig here.
Agreed that a specific RSS feed is desired. In lieu of that, I’ve added a bookmark to the new site in my ‘daily news’ bookmarks.
