UPDATE: I put this item up in June. On Nov. 9, the airport responded on twitter:

Identifying trees is hard – I can’t get much beyond evergreen vs. deciduous. Still, it’s kind of embarrassing that one of the state’s highest-profile tree celebrations, a large display at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, seems to have gotten it wrong.

The sign under the banner shown above says it’s the “official state tree white birch”. But according to forestry people, those are actually quaking aspens.

Accurate information - shame the photo is wrong.

Recently NHPR did a story about this issue and the airport says it will change the plaque.
