In a move that must make Uber officials weep with joy at their good luck, the first police citation given for being an Uber drier in Portsmouth, maybe in the state, went to a 63-year-old grandmother who goes to church in town and has already been registered to drive a school bus.
As the Portsmouth Herald reports, “Uber, however, has not complied with the city’s new transportation ordinance by registering with the city and providing proof that its drivers have passed background checks and are covered by a commercial insurance policy,” so it’s still not allowed to operate its taxi service in the Port City.
