UPDATE: Online petitions may be pointless, but competing ones have been created at Change.org over this issue – this one supports the hotel; and this one opposes it.
The owner of the Cog Railway has an idea: Build a 35-room hotel alongside – maybe even straddling – the railway about 2/3 of the way up Mount Washington. I have a story in today’s Monitor about it.
There’s already pushback, including an online petition opposing it … although since the plan is on private property, not state or federal land, that might be easier said than done.
There’s a pre-application review before the Coos County Planning Board on Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. at the North Country Resource Center (DRED Building) in Lancaster.
(I’m posting this because I’ve always found a pretty high correspondence between geekiness and hiking. For some reason geeks prefer individual sports such as hiking over team sports, except for Ultimate Frisbee, don’t ask me why.)
