I don’t usually pay attention to news about business groups but I think this announcement from Clean Energy New Hampshire, a lobbying/networking industry group, is interesting:
EnBW North America, a subsidiary of German-based EnBW AG – one of the leading offshore wind developers in Europe – … is the first offshore wind company in Clean Energy New Hampshire’s portfolio of nearly 130 clean energy, clean tech, and energy efficiency members across 16 different industry sectors.
EnBW (which stands for Energie Baden-Württemberg AG, by the way) was presumably attracted by plans to put offshore wind on three tracks south of Nantucket. There are no plans to put turbines off New Hampshire’s dinky coastline, which is somewhere between 13 and 18 miles long, give or take, but it’s interesting to see firms that have tons of experience with offshore wind farms in Europe marking their presence here.
There’s a big supply chain, and CENH has been working hard to ensure that NH is not left out of that economic growth engine, regardless of our coastline. Big kudos to Mike Behrmann for getting that effort started early!
