Vineyard Wind, the offshore wind farm under construction south of Martha’s Vineyard, hopes to start sending power into the grid by the end of the year after completing five of its planned 62 wind turbines this week reports the Vineyard Gazette.

Better late than never, I guess, but as I noted last summer we should have been saying this 10 years ago.

Power has just started flowing from the first turbine at South Fork Wind off New York. It will only have 12 turbines (132 MW) when finished so it’s pretty small. Vineyard Wind will be 800 MW with 62 turbines.
