The Farmhouse Cafe in Dunbarton has lots of cute little things to look at, like many such eateries. One of them is this counter bell covered with little painted sayings.
I was stunned to see, however, that they’re mathy sayings! Including the quadratic equation!!!
The weird thing is that earlier in the week I had used the quadratic equation for the first time in decades, to solve a little math problem, and was amazed at how I instantly recalled the “negative-B-minus-square-root-of, etc.” mantra. Obviously it’s one of those things forever embedded in my neurons, like the Oscar Meyer Weiner jingle.

Wow! It’s impressive you remember how to use the formula. I remember only the name “quadratic equation”.
I do remember some once useful information though: the serial number and firing order of my first car (a 1930 Ford); Avagadro’s number of atoms and molecules; and in Highway designs the degree of curve times the radius equals a constant (5729.58?).
